Longmont Symphony Orchestra Mission

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1966 as the Longmont Symphony Society, Inc.  Its mission is to foster and Olson Photographpromote the appreciation and understanding of symphonic music through performances and educational programs.  Each year, the orchestra performs over 10 concerts, which are enjoyed by more than 15,000 people. Although the Longmont Symphony Orchesra primarily serves the citizens of the City of Longmont, its sphere of influence includes the entire St. Vrain Valley, including other communities in Boulder, Weld, Larimer, Broomfield and Adams Counties.

Facts about the LSO

  • Over 65 auditioned musicians voluntarily participate in the orchestra.

  • Over 50 voluteers actively participate as a member of the LSO Board of Directors or in the Symphony Guild.

  • Over 15,000 people attend our concerts and events each year.

  • Over 20,000 hours are donated each year by musicians, members and volunteers.

  • We reach over 3,500 symphony supporters with our mailing list.

  • We operate on an annual budget of over $200,000.
