| What is the Super conductor contest? It is an annual contest that the community votes on three contestant to raise funding for the Longmont Symphony Orchestra. Each of the three contestants campains for your vote to elect them as the Super Conductor. You vote by donaiting money as votes for your favorite candidate. The contestant with the most votes wins and conducts a musical selection at the seasons first concert.
This year's candidates are: Jane Stoddard; Julia Pirnack; and Dicky Lyons.
Each of the candidates has volunteered to help raise funds to enhance the community support for the Longmont Symphony Orchestra. They will hand out ballots, with spirited campaign speeches, at every opportunity. Ballots are available at the Symphony office at 519 Main St. (just north of the Theatre Company in the walk-through between Main and Coffman streets).

Jane Stoddard began her career in her home state of Illinois as a farm manager before joining the title company business in Longmont 17 years ago. In addition to her day job, she is a gifted intuitive reader, having studied under the locally renowned Deb Sheppard. Jane’s creative outlets include crocheting and pie-baking. Those who have tasted her apple or banana cream pie say she may be the best pie baker west of the Mississippi. She is the proud mother of two brilliant and beautiful sons.

Julia Pirnack, former three-term mayor of Longmont, continues to work with the State of Colorado initiative, College In Colorado. This initiative provides resources and tools to promote college access to students statewide. As director of Web and curriculum development, Julia provides oversight for the design and development of the Website, CollegeInColorado.org, and its related curriculum, as well as managing training to educators across the state.
Ms. Pirnack serves on several boards and councils including the Front Range Community College Area Advisory Council, Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley and Longmont Council for the Cultural and Performing Arts. Before working with College In Colorado, Julia’s work career spanned small businesses, large for-profit organizations and a national non-profit in agriculture.
Julia is a Colorado native; born and raised in Boulder County. She attended Longmont public schools and graduated from Niwot High School with its first graduating class in 1974. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master's degree in public administration, both from the University of Colorado. Scott Pirnack, Julia's husband of 30 years, is an architect. Son Aaron recently married Amy Munger, both live in Longmont. Aaron is the business manager for Renaissance Adventures in Boulder. Daughter Sheah and granddaughter Evalynn recently returned to Colorado from the Bay area Sheah works as an aerospace engineer at Lockheed-Martin. In her spare time, Julia enjoys reading, gardening, music and spending time with her family.

Raised in Boulder and Estes Park, Dick Lyons left Colorado in 1972 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army, but returned to Colorado in 1979 when he and his wife, Jody, moved to Longmont. Dick joined the law firm now known as Bernard, Lyons, Gaddis & Kahn, PC.
Active in local affairs, Dick has served on the Landmark Designation Committee, the Longmont Charter Review Committee, the St. Vrain Valley School District’s Facilities Review Committee, and chaired the Boulder County 2004 Election Review Commission. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Longmont United Hospital.
Dick is a long time member of Longmont Rotary and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
His interest in international affairs has led to his service to the U.S. State Department as a volunteer observer of presidential and parliamentary elections in Serbia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and, most recently, Ukraine.
Dick enjoys hiking, walking (while listening to his Ipod), skiing, fishing, music, and reading.
Dick and his wife Jody, a recently retired teacher with the St. Vrain Valley School District, have two grown children. Son Trey, his wife Maia, and daughter Annie all live and work in Washington, D.C.
Although he can not carry a tune in a bucket and has difficulty reading music, Dick enjoys all types and forms of music, ranging from country to the classics, but he particularly likes the C.U. Fight song which he sings with gusto, albeit off-key.
